Being Consistent

More often then not, engineers tend to slack off. maybe because they are tired, burnt out, lacking direction, maybe lacking ambition. But some engineers don't realize they are slacking off till its too late. That's maybe because we aren't paying attention, we aren't looking at the signs, the markers we should be evaluating for ourselves.

The signs are there:

Pay attention, these could be triggered by a lot of things, mental health declining, an RSI. But your job isn't as forgiving. we are all replaceable. They will not keep you around long enough for you to recover. So, what is the way out? how do we identify this state coming, how do we mitigate it? and how can we get out ahead of it and keep our jobs?

  1. be critical of yourself
  2. be aware of your work, and your teammates
  3. don't rely on agents or sources, build your own knowledge. a little bit everyday
  4. stability is no excuse to stagnate, keep working and growing.
  5. when you begin to feel it coming on, take some time off.
  6. sometimes work needs to be your life.

this isnt objective, simply my view
